Beechley Stables RDA is an independent Charity and part of the National Riding for the Disabled Association. We offer riding and equine activities to adults and children with disabilities in the Liverpool and surrounding areas.
The recent high winds blew down a heavy light fitting in our arena and further inspection revealed that all 24 light fitting clips were corroded and liable to failure. The arena was closed immediately and all services halted. The charity sought four quotations for the work and have now instructed a contractor. The choice of contractor was based on best value and being fit for purpose. Beechley Stables RDA is asking if you are able to help us by donating towards the £7,000 required to cover the cost of the replacement lights as it is a significant cost which was unplanned and not budgeted for.
Beechley Stables is working hard to continue its services when all running costs are continuing to rise. Despite the financial burdens on families and carers, individuals and educational groups, we are experiencing an increase in demand for our services as animal related activities remain a popular choice for physical and mental health.
Our small herd of six ponies are nearly working to capacity in relation to riding so we are developing new services which involve ground work (non-ridden), pony care, Tea with Pony (for adults with dementia and other life limiting illnesses) wellbeing, course, community group get together with equine activity and equine facilitated learning. These still need to be delivered in our arena and low light levels and the onset of winter and dark mornings and early afternoon darkness mean that the lighting is essential.
The rising cost of electricity impacted our choice of lighting chancing from Sodium Lights to LED. We know that this will make significant savings to energy costs.
We hope you consider Beechley Stables RDA a worthy cause for any donation in the current times when many charities are seeking support. You can be sure that you will make a difference not only to our riders but to our volunteers.
"As a mother with a child diagnosed with ASD, I can only say J.. has come on leaps and bounds since he started volunteering over three years ago. As his mum, I've always guided him and been at his side....J had always struggled with his confidence and he often would say to me "I can't do this" or he wouldn't even entertain the idea of trying something new. What I have witnessed is J.. confidence in himself grow immeasurably along with his social skills and independence which has ben helped without doubt by being surrounded by such a warm, patient and generous team of workers and volunteers at Beechley Stables, something which I will be eternally grateful for. I've watched a young boy mature into a young self-assured man who is ready for the next phase of his life"
J... was going to attend a local college but is now living on campus away from his home town on a Level 3 Course.
