We are Reprieve, a small team of investigators, lawyers and campaigners fighting against extreme human rights abuses. We work to end the death penalty, torture, unlawful detention, rendition, and extrajudicial execution.

We stay the distance for our clients. That's why this October we are challenging you to stay the distance for human rights by running or walking 50km over the month.

And if you raise:

-£50 - we'll send you a free Team Reprieve running top.

Reprieve works with people on death row. People held without trial. People subjected to the most brutal abuses of government power. Too often they have been failed by the very systems meant to protect them.

People like Khalid*.

Khalid was only 16 when security officers entered his home in Saudi Arabia and arrested him for alleged involvement in a protest. He was held in total isolation for weeks, tortured into signing a confession, and eventually sentenced to death –for attending a demonstration, as a child.

No country is allowed to sentence a child to death. It is one of the absolute prohibitions in international law. Saudi Arabia sentenced him to death anyway.

He has now been in on death row for over a decade.

But, Khalid isn’t facing this injustice alone.

Our team works to find the facts that the state might have hidden or overlooked, such as records that could prove a person's age at the time of their arrest. In Khalid’s case, we took evidence to the international stage, submitting detailed reports to international bodies. And we make sure the world knows his name -working with journalists and politicians so the abuses he is suffering do not go unnoticed.

Khalid’s case continues, but with people like you by our side we will stand with him for as long as it takes to secure his freedom.

* This story is based on real cases Reprieve works on. Some details have been combined or changed to protect individuals and ongoing legal proceedings.

This life-changing justice takes time. It takes determination, resources, and patience. We use every tool we have – the courts of law, public opinion and politics – to shift the balance back towards justice. It's not quick, not easy, and only comes one step at a time.

So, this October can you stand in solidarity with us and take on this challenge?

How does it work?

50 km in October works out at a little over a mile a day, but it’s up to you how you do it! You can do big chunks, or rack up the km little by little. Run them, walk them, wheel them - or a bit of everything. Whether you’re looking for your next fitness challenge or trying to start a good new habit by getting your steps in, take it on in the way that suits you.
