Our manager and his amazing lads have been busy working on our new rescue centre in Tecuci today, preparing the upper walls with a fresh coat of paint which will enable us to keep the shelter clean and minimize risk of disease. Not a small task in a barn 80m long and over 10m wide. They have also installed a second hand CCTV system with internet back up for security recording and monitoring.
This centre will be a turning point for our charity, for the first time it will enable us to take full control of the welfare standards that our dogs require to survive and remain healthy until they find loving homes, but the harsh reality is that we do need to raise at least £50,000 in the coming months, Which will allow us to complete both barns to high standards which will in turn ensure the well being and safety of the dogs rescued while complying with European and Defra regulations including a separate quarantine area, which is crucial to keeping dogs safe and healthy.
All funds spent on the rescue centre are raised soley for this purpose, all funds raised towards food, and medical costs go directly towards helping the dogs saved from kill shelters. We own & run this shelter so all funds can be used in the best way possible.
Due to this, we are only able to buy limited materials when funds permit, so obviously work is slower than we hoped, our guys are amazing and nothing is wasted
Our volunteer who visited the rescue centre a few weeks ago was so impressed with the effort & care being put into the work , that he has booked another week off to go and help again in September, hopefully with three other guys who are willing to get their hands dirty and graft ..
This centre will enable us to bring over 400 dogs into our own care, where we can keep them safe and healthy while our volunteers work to find safe & loving homes for them.
It will also save a large amount of funds being payed out to private shelters as these dogs can then be cared for directly under our own roof by Romanian Rescue Appeal staff , the saving in outgoings can then go towards medical care and paying for food.
We also aim to have a small medical centre within the Rescue centre grounds, where we eventually hope to be able to employ our own vet. This would then allow us to be able to achieve our long term dream of offering free neuter and spays to the dog owners in the local areas and hopefully become involved in further animal welfare education..
With your help, these dreams are slowly becoming a reality.. you can now help us achieve that final push to build this amazing shelter for these dogs.
We can only afford to take small steps as funds are available. At present we need to paint the inside of 46 kennels with top quality paint on the walls, and a commercial quality floorpaint that can withstand being regulary washed and disinfected to ensure that each kennel provides a safe and healthy envioroment for the dogs waiting for homes.
Each kennel will need approx 5 litres of high quality wall paintpaint , which will cost pretty close to £30... and we have at least 46 kennels to paint internally....
Floor paint will cost approx £20 per kennel ..
We are also starting to build secure cages for each kennel, we will also need to be buying box section steel and wire mesh sheets for this stage.
Could you please help us to keep on working towards these goals, painting and sealing the surfaces are crucial toward keeping a clean enviroment, where disease can be stamped out before it starts.
Can you help us to continue to push the centre forward, our workers are amazing, but we really do work hand to mouth on this... The sooner that we can finish the work, the sooner that we can ensure that 100's of dogs will be safe and secure in time for the harsh Romanian winters.
