Story

REVA
Reva Reservoir can trace it’s history back to the early 20th century, when it was designed primarily to meet the increasing water demands of the growing population in Leeds. Over the years it has evolved and now it is not only a functional water source, but a hub for outdoor activities as well. A Scout Sailing Centre first opened at Reva Reservoir on May 17th 1970 and has been going ever since for over 50 years. First a timber Scout hut was brought up from Burley in Wharfedale and used as the clubhouse until the current masonry structure was built in circa 1985.
What do we provide?
At Reva we provide water activity sessions for young people which include sailing, kayaking, open canoes, stand up paddle boarding, bell boating and raft building. We are also an accredited RYA Training Centre and are able to offer both RYA youth and adult scheme courses. We run training sessions for our Scout volunteer permit holders who give their time freely to put on the water activity sessions for the young people in order to keep the centre running sustainably and viably
The original timber structure is still in use today as a bosun store and the newer building provides changing facilities, activity hall, training room and kitchenette. The reservoir is leased by Yorkshire Water to Wharfedale Scouts for use by those connected to the Scouting community.
