Part of the Sea Cadet Corps, the oldest youth organisation in the UK, we support our members inspired by the themes and traditions of the Royal Navy to learn responsible citizenship, develop new skills and actively engage with our communities.

Story

With the kind permission of the late-Rev Capt David Evans' family, donations are invited to support the work of Burnham-on-Sea & Highbridge Sea Cadets.

A small but growing community of over 40 cadets and a further 30 adult volunteers, cadets are offered life-changing opportunities to sail, windsurf, kayak, canoe, SUP, row, bike and climb to deliver life-long healthy habits.

Former cadets become leaders in their communities and workplaces and consistently excel in life - wherever and however their careers take them.

David's daughter, Victoria wrote:

David was never shy of an adventure or challenge.

He was part of the Scouting organisation as a child and completed the Ten Tors as a young police cadet. Over the years you would find him hiking with his family on Dartmoor and later in life taking his boat out on the Pembrokeshire coast. David supported his family in everything they aspired to do, not least his grandson.

When Aidan joined the Sea Cadets David was so excited to hear stories of the weekly adventures, water sports and fundraising that the cadets were up to. As a family, being able to support the Sea Cadet unit in memory of our husband, father and grandfather means so much to us.
