Your kind support will fund a tree planting project with the aim of restoring the natural habitat in Uganda and sequestering carbon from the atmosphere - tacking biodiversity loss and climate change. Your kind donations will allow us to buy seedlings and install an irrigation system that will allow our plants to survive the harsh dry season.
Uganda is a world biodiversity hotspot, with its wide range of habitat types hosting at least 1145 species of vascular plant, 345 species of mammals, 1,020 species of bird (around half of the total number found in Africa), 142 species of reptile, 86 species of amphibian, 501 species of fish and 1,242 species of butterfly. Such a rich place is threatened by human activities. 82% of the natural forests are under threat.
So far we managed to gather 25 different species of trees, however we are currently far away the natural forest variety which has more than 400 different species. For this reason, we are also funding field research conducted by a partner nursery Trinity Forestry Services to gather and replicate native species in their facilities that are not currently commercially available.
Equal Aqua Uganda are deeply concerned about water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) in Uganda and its links to environmental sustainability. Our projects are designed to target hard-to-reach groups and marginalised sections of society, who are facing the greatest WASH inequalities, such as age, gender, location, ethnicity and wealth.
Equal Aqua Uganda are fun by a team of passionate volunteers. 100% of funds raised go directly to our projects in Uganda.
All donations and support very welcome.
Thank you from the team at Equal Aqua Uganda
