Story

Rania Maayeh, Ramallah Friends School Head of School shares "These are undeniably challenging times, especially for the children who are in desperate need of a safe and supportive outlet for their fears. Furthermore, our dedicated staff requires support as they guide our students through these turbulent times."

Students and staff at the school have family in Gaza and two teachers have already lost family members there during the bombardment. A UNICEF official reports that since last month a child dies in Gaza every 10 minutes. This situation poses significant psychological pressure on our children at school. In addition, the whole RFS community faces increasing violence in the West Bank.

This campaign will support a well-being program which will increase time for the 4 counselors on staff, hire new staff, and provide activities to increase well being and support for the school community.

In addition, as the potential for violence spreading to the West Bank and the looming threat of further political instability persist, the school is facing growing pressure to adopt hybrid and remote learning. We also anticipate that many families will face severe economic hardships, and we are committed to offering a helping hand when it's needed the most.

Regrettably, we have already witnessed the departure of 12 students, with two leaving permanently and ten temporarily. These departures not only impact our school's financial stability but also raise concerns about further withdrawals. Our dedication is to prevent further losses and ensure a secure and nurturing environment for all our students.
