Story
The Children’s Ward at Royal Glamorgan Hospital cares for many young patients, including children who are neurodiverse or have additional learning needs. A new sensory room will provide a much-needed therapeutic space, designed to calm, engage and support children during what can be a very stressful time in hospital.
Thanks to the incredible generosity shown over the festive period, including Mark Evans’ Santa’s Grotto and ward visits, we have made a strong start towards making this vision a reality - but the fundraising continues.
The next stage of the appeal brings the community together for a Stand Up Comedy Fundraiser Night on Saturday 11 April 2026 at the Brown Trout Pub, Llantwit Fardre, with all proceeds supporting the new sensory room for the Children’s Ward.
This free entry event, with donations welcomed on the night, features a fantastic line-up of comedians including Ava Da Costa Maia and Andrew Evans, hosted by MC Delyth Evans, alongside Abi Myles, Gilly Webb, Danny More and Tom Kennedy. It promises to be a brilliant evening of laughter for a powerful cause.
By supporting the event and this appeal, you’ll be helping to create a dedicated space filled with sensory equipment – lights, sounds, textures and interactive features – that can make hospital visits less daunting, reduce anxiety, and provide joy and comfort for children and their families.
Every donation, big or small, will bring us closer to making this special room a reality. Help us make a lasting difference for children at Royal Glamorgan Hospital.
