If each of the 4 bikes in a one-hour slot raises £100 (plus the £32 registration fee), together they will cover the cost of a Healthcare Assistant for a full 24 hours.
Rennie Grove Peace healthcare assistants help patients feel like themselves again – offering support with washing, dressing, medication, and monitoring wellbeing. They’re a caring face, a listening ear, and a steady hand, whether in a patient’s home or in the Inpatient Unit at Peace Hospice.
Maria is a healthcare assistant in the Rennie Grove Peace Inpatient Unit. In 2023 her mum, Pat, was admitted there for end of life care.
Before Mum came here, I knew how amazing the Inpatient Unit is – all our staff working together as a team to help people and their families. But sitting on the other side of the bed, it changes how you look at it. I’m now even more proud of what I do, I am so proud of our team and our hospice, I now truly understand how valuable the services are that we provide and I feel honoured to do my job because people are coming here when they are at their most vulnerable. They are scared and we provide a safe place and look after them. When a patient and their family come through the door, I can recognise that sense of relief because I have personally experienced it.

Our care is provided at no cost to our patients and families, and we rely on the generosity of the local community to fund the majority of the costs of the service we provide.
