Rhondda Rotary's and Love Treorchy's initiative for a Dementia Friendly Treorchy has been supported by local shops and businesses and was launched in April 2024. Hopefully this will help to create a community where people with dementia are understood, respected and supported and will feel included an involved.

Rhondda Rotary has engaged with all the Valley's dementia support groups to understand what assistance can be provided going forward, for example, trips to the cinema, the seaside and other places of interest, armchair aerobics sessions, provision of equipment and aids for meeting activities.

The walk for dementia will help raise the awareness of the Dementia Friendly Treorchy initiative and the sponsorship achieved from the walk's participants will be earmarked to support dementia groups and those living with dementia in the local community.
