The campaign has now expired but it's not too late to support this charity.
Visit the charity's profileThe Ricky Road Run was founded back in 1984 as part of the then Rickmansworth Water Company's centenary celebration in what was deemed to be a "one off" event. As it went so well the run continued and here we are in 2020 running the 37th Ricky Road Run!
It has seen course changes, survived terrible weather, overcome obstacles but perhaps one of the most traumatic was a murder in the days before the event at one of the junctions which required permission from the police for the race to go ahead! This year sees a new challenge in the form of a global pandemic but that wont stop the Ricky Road Run- this year it is being held virtually allowing all the wonderful and committed runners to continue with their support of it whilst also enabling even more people from a wider geographical area to get involved!
The Ricky Road Run, organised by Affinity Water, has historically supported WaterAid as its key charity and 2020 is no different. During this global pandemic good hygiene is key to reducing the spread of Covid-19. The great work that WaterAid does to support countries around the world to ensure access to clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene for everyone is more important now than ever. Any donations are greatly appreciated. Happy running!
