Story
Early mornings in the saddle.
Time together.
The freedom of the countryside.
If we lose our off-road routes, we lose these moments too. We cannot let that happen.
Join hundreds of riders and horses taking part in the BHS Rideathon to protect the routes that make riding possible.
Ride 25km or more in July, in your own time and your own way, and raise funds to help keep the riding network open and usable for everyone.
Every kilometre really does make a difference.
Why it matters
Off-road riding routes are quietly disappearing.
Bridleways become overgrown. Gates break or seize up. Surfaces wear away. Access points are blocked or left unsafe.
When routes are not maintained, riders and carriage drivers are pushed onto busy roads. Horses lose safe places to relax and build confidence. And once a route falls out of use, it becomes much harder to protect.
Rideathon helps fund the practical work needed to maintain, restore and safeguard off-road routes, so horses and people can continue to enjoy the countryside together.
How your fundraising helps
Funds raised support the BHS Ride Out Fund, helping to:

• £100 could help replace a damaged gate
• £50 could help resurface a worn bridleway
• £25 could help fund tools to clear overgrown access points
