Story

**For those who have provided us with contact details, we will make sure to update you on how your funds have been instrumental in supporting families from Gaza.**

Current situation: A small number of families have been evacuated to the UK on an initial 2-year emergency visa due to their children’s urgent medical needs and vulnerability. Parents have left everything behind in the hope of care for their children who require specialist and urgent treatment.

RMC has welcomed these families on arrival and is supporting them with essentials - healthcare registration, language support, housing assistance and safeguarding.

Families are overwhelmed and traumatised, but RMC’s resources to support them are limited and only short term, despite the long-term needs of these families and the possibility of further evacuations.

Current funding does not cover all the support required - there are significant gaps. We are, therefore, appealing to the wider community to help us bridge these gaps - ensuring families can settle safely, with dignity and stability.

With your financial support, we can scale this response to meet the growing need to support families in a coordinated and sustainable way:

• Essential household and homely items - bedding, toys, and furniture to offer children comfort, reassurance, and a safe place to call home where families can begin to recover and rebuild.*

• Access to interpreters and English classes, education and employment.

• Emergency and long-term transport, bus passes and emergency taxis to help families reach hospital appointments and vital services.

• Experienced staff who can provide trauma-informed support.

• Guidance on navigating UK systems for education and employment - including access, enrollment, and pathways to training and work.

The Refugee and Migrant Centre is the leading charity in the West Midlands providing high quality resettlement support for new arrivals. Since 2016 RMC has led & delivered various resettlement schemes which have assisted thousands of Syrians, Afghanis, Ukrainians, Hong Kongers and Sudanese.

Your support will enable RMC to move beyond crisis response and offer long-term pathways to education, employment, and community belonging.
