Anstruther volunteer crew cover one of the busiest waterways in the UK and urgently need new facilities to go on saving lives. As a charity, we rely on your support. Today you can boost the speed of the service, and enhance crew and casualty wellbeing, by helping to raise funds towards a new home for the crew’s latest lifesaving craft.
Your kindness today can give people the best chance of survival by helping to fund a new, purpose-built lifeboat station that will boost lifesaving here for generations to come.
Our boathouse was built at the turn of the last century,’ says Station Coxswain/ Mechanic Michael Bruce. ‘We make the best of its current space and facilities but, crucially, the new craft and its launching system won’t fit inside.
Until they can be rehoused in the new boathouse, the Shannon lifeboat and its launch and recovery carriage are being stored in a temporary compound outside, which is open to the elements.
A new, purpose-built station will give the crew ample room for the Shannon lifeboat and its launching system, so they’ll no longer need to be stored outside in the wind and rain. Plus, they'll be moving along the harbour to a better position directly at the harbour mouth. This will help save precious minutes, and make launching safer and easier.
