Road to the Fringe - Empowering Young Voices Through Theatre!

At Burnley Youth Theatre, we believe in the power of giving young people the platform to tell stories that matter. Our young company, FirstByte, is a group of ten talented and passionate young people aged 14-18 who have spent the last year writing and developing their own original play: Buried.

Buried is not just a play, it’s an exploration of what young people feel, fear, and hope for. It’s about the things we hide, the things we bury deep inside, and the courage it takes to dig them up and share them with the world.

Why We Need Your Help

We need to raise £10,000 to bring Buried to life on stage at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this August. This money will go towards:

- Travel and venue costs for 4 public performances

- Costumes and props to help the story come alive

- Professional light, sound and set design

- Workshops and mentoring to support the cast’s development

Since September 2024, the young company have organised fundraiser performances, ran bake sales, took part in family events and lots more to raise money and have reached a huge £6,132! We are now on the final push to reach our target!
