Story

A Life in Limbo: The Ongoing Struggle of the Rohingya

Imagine leaving your home with nothing but the clothes on your back.

No certainty of where you will sleep.

No idea where your next meal will come from.

No guarantee that your children will be safe.

For more than one million Rohingya Muslims, this is not imagination—it is daily life.

Forced to flee unimaginable violence, families crossed borders in search of safety, leaving behind their homes, livelihoods, and everything they had ever known. Today, many live in overcrowded refugee camps such as Cox's Bazar, where survival is a constant struggle.

The camps offer shelter, but they cannot erase the hardships.

Narrow pathways wind through rows of fragile shelters built from bamboo and tarpaulin. During the monsoon season, heavy rain turns the ground to mud, while powerful storms threaten to wash away the little families have left. Every year brings new uncertainty.

More than half of the refugee population are children.

Many have never known a permanent home. Instead of classrooms and playgrounds, they grow up surrounded by overcrowded shelters and limited opportunities. Malnutrition remains a serious concern, and access to nutritious food, clean drinking water, healthcare, and education is severely limited.

For mothers and fathers, the greatest pain is often the inability to provide for their children.

Something as simple as preparing a daily meal can become an impossible challenge. Clean water is not always available, increasing the risk of illness and disease. Basic medical care is often beyond reach without humanitarian assistance.

Yet despite these immense hardships, the Rohingya people continue to show remarkable patience, resilience, and faith.

This is where your support becomes a lifeline.

Through the generosity of compassionate donors, Islamic Welfare Trust is delivering emergency food packs, fresh meals, clean water, hygiene kits, medical assistance, and financial support to families living in the camps. These essential services help protect lives, restore dignity, and provide hope to those who have endured years of displacement.

Every donation helps a family facing hunger.

Every water project helps prevent disease.

Every act of charity reminds our brothers and sisters that they have not been forgotten.

The Prophet ﷺ said:

"The most beloved people to Allah are those who are most beneficial to people." (Al-Mu'jam al-Awsat – Hasan)

Today, you have the opportunity to be among those who bring relief to one of the world's most vulnerable refugee communities.

Your Sadaqah and Zakat can provide food for the hungry, clean water for the thirsty, medical care for the sick, and hope for families who continue to live through unimaginable hardship.

May Allah accept your generosity, ease the suffering of our Rohingya brothers and sisters, and make your charity a source of lasting reward in this life and the Hereafter. Ameen.
