Story
2024 has been a difficult year for many, especially those impacted by the summer far-right race riots. Room to Heal has been a place of sanctuary for our community members.
Our community is made up of people from 36 countries who have survived torture, trafficking and organised violence, and sought asylum in the UK.
We provide a safe space for people to begin to recover - through group therapy, support with asylum claims and housing, and group activities, from our weekly community meal to gardening, retreats and days out.
Our services are more important than ever. London Funders (Aug 2024) reported that there’s an urgent need for projects that support the mental health and wellbeing of people in vulnerable situations, particularly refugees.
“RtH came at the right time, without RtH I would have ended my life. Staff is very supportive, it is like a second family.”
In our recent community members’ survey, 100% of respondents said their mental health had improved as a direct result of being part of Room to Heal.
“Room to Heal community's care and support… helps me to recover from past traumatic experiences and also from day-to-day anxiety and stress. Thank you.”
