Rossholme Relay

Collectively we are aiming to travel 6,950 km the distance from the original Rossholme site in Somerset to the Rossholme Kenya site in Kiambiu, Nairobi. In doing so we want to raise £6,950 to fund the building of a further two permanent classrooms.

The school in Nairobi’s Kiambiu slum provides free education and meals for over 525 children aged 2 to 12. They would otherwise receive no formal teaching. It has been run since 2016 by Kenyan, Joyce Aruga, with the support of the UK-based charity, Rossholme School in Kenya and other charities.

Story

Education changes everything. So does breakfast.

Rossholme School sits in the middle of Kiambiu, one of Nairobi's poorest informal settlements, in classrooms previously made of corrugated tin and breeze block. Inside, 525 children aged 3 to 12 are learning to read, to count, to imagine a different future.

Most of them are here for free because their families could never afford the fees of an ordinary Kenyan school. So we cover everything: the building, the teachers, the uniforms, the books, the lockers, the security guard, and a breakfast and lunch every single school day.
