Route1 works with Somerset young people in care and those who are care experienced. The service provides volunteer Independent Visitors. Independent Visitors and the young person they support undertake a variety of activities together, depending on their interests and the age of the young person. This can range from going for a coffee and chat, visiting the theatre or football match to exploring new opportunities, skills, hobbies and experiences.

The Route1 Fund has been set up to raise funds to provide access to more enrichment activities so that Independent Visitors can help to broaden young people's horizons, make happy memories and help them access experiences that would otherwise be out of reach to them.

The Route1 Fund is managed by Somerset Community Foundation, registered charity no. 1094446. Funds will not be used towards carrying out Somerset Council’s statutory responsibilities. If the Route1 Service ceases to exist, donations will be used to support similar charitable work in Somerset.
