Help RPD Dixie stay happy, mobile, and pain free in retirement

RPD Dixie’s stem cell transplant let her walk and play again, but she now needs a vital top-up treatment. Without it, her mobility may decline. She spent her life keeping others safe, now she deserves the happy, pain-free retirement she earned.

WAGS (Wiltshire, Avon, Gloucestershire, Somerset) Retired Police Dog Charity purpose is animal welfare. We want to ensure no retired police dog is ever euthanised due to lack of financial means by their new owners. WAGs was set up to help these beneficiaries (the handlers and members of the pubic who take on looking after the retired police dogs) with the cost of life saving veterinary treatment to ensure the retired police dogs can be given the veterinary treatment they require to allow them to lead a happy healthy retirement after they have served the public for years as police dogs. Your donations are extremely important to us and we are very grateful for your generosity.

Story

In November 2023, RPD Dixie underwent a stem cell transplant after struggling significantly with mobility and pain.

The treatment transformed her life, and she was finally able to walk, trot, and play with comfort again, reclaiming the happy retirement she so dearly deserves.

RPD Dixie’s mum has been amazing in her rehabilitation, keeping her active and taking her to hydrotherapy to ensure she stays strong and mobile.

Now, RPD Dixie needs a vital top-up treatment to maintain the progress she’s made. She is beginning to struggle with her back legs, scuffing and having trouble lifting them.

Unfortunately, this next stage of her care costs over £2,000, and without it, she risks declining back to the painful state she was in before her transplant.

RPD Dixie dedicated her working years to keeping others safe, and now it’s our turn to ensure she enjoys the comfortable, joyful retirement she earned.
