Refugee Week Appeal 2025 - Donate to support people seeking safety in Devon

This Refugee Week, help us continue to provide emergency support to people seeking safety in Devon.

Closes 23/06/2025

Refugee Support Devon’s aim is to support people who have been forced to flee from their homes in other parts of the world. The charity provides them with the protection needed to rebuild their lives in safety and with dignity.

Story

Imagine being forced to flee your home - everything you’ve ever known - only to arrive somewhere where the language is unfamiliar, and where you may not always feel welcome.

This Refugee Week, we want to raise £5000 to provide more emergency support for people who have risked everything to find safety in Devon.

...

Meet Adnan.

Adnan*, a cyber security expert, had to flee his home with his two children, his wife and his mother, because his life was suddenly at risk from his country's government.

The family arrived in the UK last year, exhausted and frightened about their safety and future. They were placed in a hotel in Devon, a hotel where Refugee Support Devon is present to provide support and information to individuals like Adnan and his family.

He said: “The Refugee Support Devon team was extremely helpful and gave us all the essentials such as clothes, shoes, bus tickets and SIM cards. RSD has been with us at each and every step of our journey in Devon so far.”

Adnan and his family have now been granted leave to remain. Adnan can finally feel hopeful for the future and raise his family in safety.

...

By donating to our appeal, you’ll be helping families like Adnan’s get the urgent support they need when they arrive in Devon - often with nothing, and no one to turn to.

We are a small local charity, and one of the only sources of support. Your generosity could fund:

£5.50 - bus fare so that clients living in the hotel can access our drop-in sessions in the centre of Exeter.

£10 - a hot meal for someone who hasn’t eaten in days.

£15 - a SIM card to reconnect people to their loved ones and keep in touch with our team.

£20 - baby clothes for a child who's recently arrived with nothing.

£50 - one night in emergency accommodation.

£100 - translation and interpretation services to help someone access healthcare or legal advice.

£300 - a day of vital frontline support for up to 10 clients.

This Refugee Week, stand in solidarity.

Together, we can keep Devon a welcoming place for people newly arrived in our community.

Donate now - your gift will offer more than essentials, but hope, dignity, and a new beginning.

Thank you :)
