Story
Ryedale Special Families’ aim has always been to support families of children with disabilities and additional needs to thrive! We are soon to start developing the outside area at our accessible centre in Pickering so we can offer inclusive and social opportunities outdoors too!
We have already secured funding for a range of exciting improvements and equipment, but now we’re asking the public for a ‘big push’ to help us purchase an inclusive basket swing and standard playground swing.
Access to swings can offer the simple joy of movement and sensory stimulation, as well as promoting muscle development, coordination and balance.
Using swings and other playpark equipment is a pastime most young people take for granted. Sadly, for some of those we support, a lack of accessibility, or stereotyping and stigma, means this just isn’t possible. Sensory sensitivities and neurodivergence can also mean busy public play spaces are overwhelming or too stressful.
We'll be spending 24 hours on the swings at Woodlands Park on 24-25 October - we need your support!
DONATE TODAY to give us a 'big push' and help bring home the swings!
With thanks to the following for their support and offline donations:
