What does Christmas mean to you? Joy, family, good food and gifts? Sadly, for the animals that we take in, Christmas isn't always filled with joy.

Christmas is always one of our toughest times of year as we tend to see an increase in unwanted and abandoned animals in the festive period. The cost-of-living crisis and inflation has hit our rehoming centre hard this year, and as we're not funded by the RSPCA, this is dented our funds massively.

For every Christmas in his life so far, Basher had spent it alone in kennels. This year, thanks to the dedication of our team, Basher will be spending his first ever Christmas in a home, surrounded by a family that completely adore him.

Mouse was found as a heavily pregnant stray cat who was trying to nest and give birth on tarpooling that was covering an open well. Thankfully she was brought into our care where she safely gave birth to six kittens, who, without our help may have grown up on the streets this Christmas.

Prawn was found in a home with 96 other dogs in shocking conditions. Him and the other dogs we took into our care were all filthy, scared and very weak, thankfully, the local inspectorate team found them all in time before it was too late. Prawn here can now spend his first ever Christmas in a clean, comfortable and loving home.
