We are self funding and raise money to support the animal welfare work we do. All money raised goes towards the cost of rehoming the abused, neglected and unwanted pets in our care. Many animals that come our way need extra care; vet visits, medications, behavioural assessments and interventions.

Story

Were looking to raise £1200 to help our 2 little stars, Blue the Shar Pei, and William the handsome black cat, get the eye operations they desperately need to get them pain-free.

How strange! We have never encountered this before, entropion, and now we have 2 animals urgently needing operations to fix it! Antibiotics and lubricants have failed to make a difference to Blues and Williams quality of life so entropion surgery is the only thing that will relieve these beautiful creatures of their pain, whilst also giving them a better, clearer outlook on life, literally. Entropion is a condition where the eyelids turn inwards, causing constant irritation to the eyeball, risking scarring and infection constantly. Our wonderful vets will remove a tiny piece of eyelid and this will remove the turn-in and immediately release Blue and William from their pain and inevitable loss of sight.

Blue was surrendered to us. It was immediately apparent he was in some discomfort with his eyes, this is always a risk with this breed of dog, with their trademark wrinkles and grooves. After having his eyes cleaned and drops popped in for a few days, the vet looking after him decided the only way to get this big handsome boy out of pain was bilateral entropion surgery. He may require surgery on both upper and lower eyelids. Blue has damage/scarring to his corneas. Left untreated, Blue will suffer corneal ulcers and possibly even lose one or both eyes!

Sweet William came to us after his owner moved and left him behind! He was found to be FIV positive. FIV, much like HIV, weakens the immune system, leading to all sorts of issues. We believe numerous eye infections and bouts of cat flu to be the root of his problem. These may not have been so severe had he not been FIV positive.
