Veterinary Bills Appeal - Please help our rescues in need

We have recently been faced with a number of large veterinary bills within a short space of time, for animals who have required extensive treatment for a variety of conditions. We would be so grateful for any donations to help towards them.

We work throughout the Leeds & Wakefield area to rehabilitate and find new homes for the many abused and abandoned animals that come into our care. With the kindness & generosity of local people we can provide veterinary treatment, care & attention and new homes for animals

Story

We currently have a number of rescues at our centre who have sadly needed extensive veterinary treatment for various conditions. As a self-funded charity, multiple large vet bills within a short space of time is not something we can easily afford, so we are in urgent need of your support to help pay for all the necessary treatments needed to give these animals a second chance. We would be so grateful if you could donate towards our appeal, to help make a difference to the following animals:

Luna (French Bulldog - 7 years 10 months old) - Luna was brought to our centre under sad circumstances after her previous owner passed away. She has skin issues which cause her paws to be very sore, but she also had a large lump on her bottom which was found to be a grade 2 mast cell tumour. This kind of tumour is fairly common, but can become very sinister if not removed ASAP. Luna has had surgery to completely remove the lump, which has been successful, and she is now recovering in a foster home. Luna's surgery cost £635, and she may also need blood tests to determine the cause of her skin issues, which will cost a further £250.

Jerry - (Domestic Shorthair - 6 years old) - Jerry came into our care after being a long-term stray. He had an injury on his paw, which was originally thought to be an abscess caused by an imbedded nail, but further investigations showed that it was actually cancer and was causing him a lot of pain. His cancerous toe has now been amputated, and Jerry is much happier! Jerry's vet bill for histology tests and amputation surgery is £505.

Freddie (Staffie x Collie - 2 years 5 months old) - Freddie arrived at our centre last year and was found to have a luxating patella in both of his hindlimbs. Freddie needed to have surgery to correct this, which was very generously funded by our incredible supporters. The surgery went very well, however his recovery has been slow and his post-op check showed that he wasn't as far along in his recovery as we had hoped. Altogether, Freddie has required two surgeries, 3 x-rays costing £600 each, and a further consult to staple one of his wounds after his sutures broke open. Since Freddie's first appeal, his treatment has cost a further £2692.

Errol (Domestic Shorthair - 1 year 6 months old) - When Errol arrived at our centre, he had sore, open wounds all over his face and on his back. After various tests and treatments including steroid tablets and creams, he is now on a food elimination diet. He is only 8 weeks into his new diet so far, but it seems to be working well for him! His skin is improving, but it will still take time for his wounds to heal. Errol's prescription food costs £35 per bag.

Harper (French Bulldog - 3 years old) - Harper arrived at our centre unwell, and was taken to the vets for investigations. She was found to have pneumonia and was hospitalised for treatment. She is now being cared for in a loving foster home. Harper's vet bill currently stands at £1600.

Sammy (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel - 8 weeks old) - Sammy was signed over to us by his breeder after developing breathing issues, and was taken to the vets for further investigations. X-rays showed that Sammy had pneumonia, so he was admitted for overnight hospitalisation and treatment. He was responding well to this treatment, however the following morning he deteriorated and suffered a seizure, after which he became unresponsive. Following veterinary advice, the kindest thing for Sammy was to be put to sleep peacefully so he was no longer suffering or in pain. Sammy's consultation, treatment and overnight monitoring cost a total of £1000.

We always want to provide the best possible care and treatment for our animals, to give them the second chance they deserve so they can go on to find their forever home. Our branch is under a lot of pressure with increasing bills at the moment, and we are struggling to afford these additional veterinary fees. We would be ever so grateful for your support to help us help Luna, Jerry, Freddie, Errol and Harper by donating to our appeal. No donation is ever too small, and every pound donated will make a huge difference in giving these animals the chance at a healthier and longer life.

Any money that we may raise above the amount needed will go towards all the other animals in our care at our branch in East Ardsley.

Thank you for your support.
