Our aim is to support the wellbeing of all staff, patients and community members of Powys and we can work toward achieving this through the kind donations, legacies and money raised through fundraising events.  The money we receive is to help benefit the people of Powys.

Story

This exciting day of touch rugby, family activities and community spirit aims to fundraise to help support the people of Powys living with a cancer diagnosis.

Approximately 1,000 people in Powys receive a new cancer diagnosis every year, this means that there are always around 5,000 people in Powys living with and beyond cancer, every year. Those living with a cancer diagnosis, and their families, face not only the terrible news of this diagnosis but also new personal and impactful challenges that this news and treatment programme bring to their lives.

What's Happening?

Ruck Cancer 2027 will be a full day of activities for all ages, including:

🏉 Touch Rugby Tournament with teams competing throughout the day.

🏉 Children's Rugby Skills Sessions delivered with support from the Scarlets Rugby Team, giving young people the opportunity to develop their skills and enjoy the sport.

🎪 Family Entertainment with activities and attractions for all ages.

🍔 Food and Refreshments available throughout the day.

💚 Community Fundraising bringing local businesses, organisations, sports clubs and supporters together for an unforgettable event.

Whether you're playing, volunteering, supporting a team or simply enjoying the day's activities, every contribution will help make a difference.

The money raised through Ruck Cancer 2027 will help support initiatives that enhance patient experiences and wellbeing. We aim to provide the little things that can make the biggest difference, such as:

• Support with travel for treatment

• Support with accommodation needed for treatment

• Warm socks or slippers with non-slip soles

• A neck or travel pillow for better rest

• Eye mask and earplugs

• Lip balm (hospital air is often very dry)

• Moisturiser or hand cream

• Hairbrush or comb

• Facial wipes

• Headphones or earbuds

• Power bank

• Books or magazines

• Puzzle books (crosswords, Sudoku)

• Knitting, crafts, or hobbies that can be done from bed/chair

• A reusable water bottle
