Story
From Friday 15th May, were setting you the challenge to take on a virtual marathon or half marathon within 30 days to support Bath Cats and Dogs Home. You can walk or run the distance of 26.2 miles or 13.1 miles (or set your own distance), alone, with your pooch or even just at home on the treadmill!
The COVID-19 pandemic will put a real strain on the Home this year. After having to shut the Home to the public and cancel or postpone our main fundraising events this Spring and Summer including our Wag Walk on Sunday 17th May, we need your help to try and raise money so that we can keep giving expert care to vulnerable animals!
So, we have set up a challenge you can do with your pooch starting that same weekend, from Friday 15th May, running over 30 days until Monday 15th June!
Sign up by clicking Start Fundraising under Be a Fundraiser and setting up your own fundraising page. You can even connect to the running/walking app Strava through your page so that you can post updates of walks and runs youve done and show off your progress!
As an extra challenge, why not try some GPS art and try and draw a picture of a cat or a dog by running a certain route and taking a screenshot of your running app map! You can then share is as an update on your page and on social media.
All of our amazing fundraisers will get support from our fundraising team and everyone who finishes the marathon and raises at least £100 will be sent a celebratory medal for finishing!
£100 would be enough to help us to provide a safe kennel to an abandoned dog for over 2 weeks or would help to will help pay to vaccinate a litter of kittens and keep them fed and cared for over a month.
Remember to follow government guidance on daily exercise allowance and guidelines on social distancing when you are out and about.
You can help us look after cats like Roxy who was found abandoned on the side of a busy road last year in a holdall bag. Roxy came to Bath Cats and Dogs Home and we were able to find her a loving new owner where she is now living happily. You can help us help more animals in desperate need.
