Why We're Running
Mental health support can be life-changing — but for many, the cost can be a barrier. At Gloucestershire Counselling Service (GCS), we believe everyone deserves access to high-quality, professional counselling, no matter their circumstances.
That’s why we’re inviting you to take on the Stroud Half Marathon — and run to make a difference.
All funds raised from this event will go directly to providing subsidised counselling for people across Gloucestershire. Your support helps individuals and families struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, bereavement, relationship breakdowns and more — right here in our local community.
“I have felt unheard and abused all my life, always in fight mode and just angry. With that amount of trauma comes a huge amount of questions and explosive reactions. My counsellor basically sat with me amongst the daisies while we went right back and addressed each thing. They allowed me to find ways to explore my own feelings, but most of all, they listened. I don’t know much in this world, and I only believe in what I know to be true, but my counsellor is an angel in disguise. As I walk through the empty battlefield now, all I see is bluebells and dragonfly’s and her voice guides me to the calm.”
