Story
Renewed Hope's drop in is open to anyone who thinks they need it 6 days a week, 52 weeks of the year.
Between 1/9/2023 and 31/8/24 our amazing volunteers served over 5,400 meals at our drop in in Redhill. They welcomed 299 individuals, of whom at least 163 were homeless when they first came to Renewed Hope last year, sleeping in shop doorways, multi-story carparks, tents in the woods in Redhill Common, in their car , or if they were lucky on a friend's floor for a night or two.
Unfortunately these figures show a big increase in the need for our services over the last year. The number of people coming to us with no bed for the night increased by 74, or 83%.
There are any number of reasons why our guests have come to be homeless, including relationship breakdown, job loss, mental health issues, addiction issues, or simple bad luck. As one of our guests said, many of us are only 3 pay cheques away from losing our home.
But through all this our guests can be very resilient, and our job is to give them the space, practical help and support to make the next step.
Congratulations to 4 homeless guests of Renewed Hope who have recently moved into their own homes. 2 are in shared houses after living on the streets since winter, one young adult has taken the big step of accepting a place in a therapeutic community, and the fourth has just moved into Renewed Hope's supported house in Redhill.
Please help other homeless and vulnerable people like this by sponsoring our brilliant runners at Run Reigate this weekend.
We now have 15 runners in Team Renewed Hope, and they will be donning their red Renewed Hope running shirts whatever the weather this Sunday morning.
Please support our work by donating to this campaign, and telling other people about us. You will be encouraging our runners and supporting our work.
Your support directly helps those who need it most.
