Story
UPDATE:
September 2023:
Thanks to all of your generosity and fundraising efforts we managed to reach our initial target of £10,000 by July 2023.
We are so grateful to everyone who has made the effort to spread the word, donate, and help organise things like bake & uniform sales, the summer fair, put on a movie screening, run a half marathon and cycled through scotland on behalf of the school. As we think you can help us reach the next goal, we are adding an additional £4000 to our final fundraising goal, which would help us pay for the installation of the sensory garden around the new learning hub.
THANK YOU.
Spring 2023:
From the Head teacher at Rushmore Primary School: We are excited to be able to finally announce our plans to turn the caretakers cottage into a learning, nurture and meeting space.
Having waited for this years school budget to come in, we finally know we have just about enough funds available to start the works.
With the competing budgetary pressures, we do not have enough income to cover the entire cost. However, Rushmore PTA have stepped up and agreed to contribute the amazing amount of £25,000 from the money you have all helped raise across countless bake sales, summer & winter fairs, second hand uniform sales, Christmas cards, the Hackney Half, and the monthly Just Giving donation scheme these past 2/3 years.
But even with that brilliant amount, and no matter how we crunch the numbers, we are still short the final £10,000.
Which is why we are asking for help - from you, our school community, and the wider community at large. Please help us by donating here or sharing a link to our campaign to friends and family.
Every penny donated to get us over that finish line, will help enable us to get our new learning hub built this summer. The aim is for the works to begin at the start of the summer holiday, with an estimated completion date of mid/late September 2023.
The final payment for the works would need to be made in autumn, so we are aiming to raise the £10,000 by October 20th
ABOUT THE SPACE
There is a shortage of additional teaching spaces in both our school buildings to facilitate small group teaching, nurture groups and parents' meetings. Currently, groups are taught on the stage, in the school halls and wherever space can be found, so the aim is to provide the following for all year groups:
- 2 x additional teaching spaces, each accommodating up to 10 pupils
- Meeting room for staff and parent use
- Additional office space
- Additional toilet facilities
The caretakers cottage is set within the school grounds, between the upper and lower phase playgrounds. A location which offers the best opportunity to provide a mixed teaching space for all year groups.
