The Challenge Is Over – But the Story Continues

What started as an ambitious journey from sea level towards the summit of Mount Fuji became something none of us could have predicted.

There was extreme weather, an evacuation from the mountain, very little sleep and then a second attempt that saw members of Team Endeavour finally reach the 3,776m summit of Mount Fuji.

But perhaps the biggest story happened on the way back down.

In increasingly dangerous conditions, the team found themselves helping people outside our group who were in serious difficulty. Eight people were helped out of potentially life-threatening situations, including a severely hypothermic woman who had to be supported and carried around 1,000 vertical metres down the mountain to an awaiting ambulance.

It was a remarkable end to a challenge that became about far more than simply reaching the summit.

Sea to Summit Fuji may now be complete, but our fundraising certainly isn't. We're still working towards our ambition of creating a new respite centre in the Lake District, and every donation takes us another step closer.
