What a weekend!!
6 of our kittens were admitted to the vets and 4 still remain at the vets very poorly on IV fluids and supportive care.
Friday morning, Molly had opened up her spay wound, she needed surgery to clean the wound and restitch. She is now back at the SAA on antibiotics and pain relief.
Also on Friday morning little Noodles temperature spiked and he went a little floppy so we took him straight to the vets, kittens can go downhill very quickly. He was admitted and put on IV fluids. Bloods showed he was still a little dehydrated and is suffering from flea bite anaemia. Noodle returned back into foster care on Sunday morning and he is doing well again.
Also on Friday Muffin one of a litter of 4, 9 week old kittens suddenly became very poorly, his temperature was dangerously high. He was admitted to the vets for fluid therapy and supportive care to help lower his temperature. On Saturday he was still poorly so we transferred him to another of the vets we use, where he could be monitored 24 hours a day and therefore be on IV fluids.
Unfortunately on Sunday morning, Sparkle and Chunk, 2 of Muffins siblings, also started showing signs of bring very poorly. They were seen by the emergency vets and both had very high temperatures, they were both admitted and put on IV fluids, antibiotics and pain relief. The remaining sibling, Kiwi, wasn't showing any signs other than enlarged lymph nodes but she was also admitted for observation so the vets can start any treatment if needed quickly.
All 4 kittens remain in the vets. We believe they are suffering from a virus, more tests will likely be done early this week to try go find out what is going on with them and they will continue to recieve the appropriate treatment they need.
As you can imagine this weekend has been a worrying one aswell as an expensive one! If you would like to donate towards their care we would be very grateful. Here are the different ways you can donate:
