Since the 1960s, the Society for Abandoned Animals has been helping lost, abandoned and unwanted animals in Manchester and the North West of England.
In 1994, the charity moved to our current site - Mosley Acre Farm in Sale, Manchester. It is in a wonderful location, sitting between the canal and the river, and conveniently located for all areas of Manchester and the wider area, as transport links are good.
However, as time has gone on and money has gone toward animal care, rather than buildings, the Sanctuary buildings have become very tired and, coupled with 25 years of Northern winters, many have become damaged and unusable, with asbestos in some of the buildings making them additionally unsafe. The situation, as those of you who know the site well will attest, cannot continue.
We have been very fortunate to receive a number of legacies and large donations to undertake a lot of the work required. However, we know unexpected issues will arise and to do more of the things we would like to, we will need to raise additional funds.
Having a functional and safe site will enable us to help more animals; have a safe working environment for our staff and volunteers and also generate income through events and hiring of facilities. This is vital as we enter into a period where more animals than ever are likely to need our help, coupled with increased demand on charitable giving.
*This Fundraiser will remain open for some time as there is a lot to do on the site. However, in the event we raise more money than required, additional funds will go towards ongoing site maintenance and our general animal care costs*
