Sadaqah means “righteousness” and is a voluntary charity given to please God.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) emphasised the benefits of giving Sadaqah in a number of sayings:

As Muslims, we know that Sadaqah (voluntary charity) is an integral part of our way of life.

Each day, Muslims around the world sacrifice their earnings as a form of Sadaqah for the sake of Allah, in an effort to please Him and to bring benefit to those around us.

For 40 years, Islamic Relief has witnessed just how far this sacrifice can go, as Sadaqah provides clean water, improves food security, opens the doors to education and careers – provides the chance to break free from the poverty cycle!

Sadaqah has the power to life communities out poverty, through the act of giving for the sake of Allah!
