Mercy's courageous decision to share her story highlights the painful reality many children face. Her experience is a stark reminder of the urgent need to support families in protecting children from abuse. No child should ever have to endure what Mercy went through.

Her narrative exposes the betrayal of trust within familial relationships, where a male relative, entrusted with her care in her parents' absence during a school holiday, became the perpetrator of her suffering. Thankfully, Mercy found the strength to seek help and begin a journey toward healing in a safer environment.

At Safe International, we are dedicated to empowering families with the tools and knowledge to prevent such tragedies. Through education and resources, we aim to equip parents and caregivers with the means to keep their children safe. Our Goal

This summer, we have launched a crucial fundraising campaign to raise £20,000 to continue our vital work in Kenya, keeping children safe throughout the year, especially during the school holidays. During these breaks, children are at heightened risk. Rates of trafficking, child labour, child separation and displacement, and sexual abuse significantly increase when children are out of school and more vulnerable, making our work even more critical during these times.

The funds we raise will keep children like Mercy safe this summer and beyond. We stand by children and their families whenever they need us, for as long as they need us. Our support aims to prevent families from reaching a crisis point, ensuring children's safety and aiding in the recovery from trauma and adversity.

Your generous contribution will help us provide the essential services that make a lasting difference in the lives of vulnerable children and families in Kenya. We are seeking to fund the services and staffing at our Family Hub, a vital resource for children and families in Western Kenya.

This funding will enable us to:

- Provide safe spaces and supervision,

- Organise activities, workshops, and events for children and families,

- Collaborate with local authorities and advocate for children's rights and protection at all levels.
