Safe This Winter

Winter is our toughest, costliest time of year. We're raising £10,000 to cover vet bills, food, and warmth for animals in need. Costs are rising for everyone, charities included. We know times are tough, but any help keeps animals Safe This Winter!

Closes 01/01/2027

We are a self-funding branch of the RSPCA responsible for raising money locally to support our animal welfare work. Our main aim is to take in unwanted, abandoned and neglected animals and find them loving, permanent homes. We rely heavily on public donations and support for our work to continue.

Story

This winter, three stories show exactly why your support matters

Every animal who comes through our doors has a story. This winter, we're sharing three of them, because behind every number on our fundraising total is an animal whose life has been saved.

Star & Alfie

Star and Alfie came to us from the same property on 19 May 2026, severely matted, covered in feces, and having never been groomed, vet-checked, house-trained, or even taken for a walk. Star is believed to have had multiple litters before her rescue.

Our team carried out extensive dematting, cleaning, and full health checks to give them their first-ever taste of proper care. Months later, both dogs are now settled into loving homes.

"He is a super little boy who brings nothing but joy."- Alfie's new owner

Pumpkin

Pumpkin's owner did everything they could for her, but when she needed emergency treatment they couldn't afford, he made the hardest, most loving decision: they came to us and asked for help. At just 15 weeks old, she arrived with a ruptured eye, yet was still bright and behaving like any other curious kitten.

Our vets moved fast, and within a day she'd had surgery to remove the eye. She's still recovering with us now, and will soon be ready for a new home.

Alberto

When Alberto arrived, thought to be under a year old, he weighed just 7.6kg. Vets found severe muscle wastage, a body condition score of 1/5, and a puppy so malnourished he was too weak to stand. Because of that neglect, he never grew to his full potential size.

Today, he's happy, healthy, and thriving in his new home.

Every one of these stories started the same way: an animal in desperate need, and a team determined to help. Your donation to Safe This Winter keeps that possible, for the next Star, the next Pumpkin, the next Alberto.

Please donate what you can to help more animals stay Safe This Winter.
