For over 100 years, 6th Torbay Britannia Sea Scouts has been providing adventure, challenge and skills for life to young people in our local community. Founded in 1922, we are proud to be a Royal Navy-affiliated Sea Scout group and an RYA Training Centre, based on Paignton Harbour. Every week, more than 150 local young people aged 6 to 18 take part in Scouting with us.

What makes us different is our access to the sea. Alongside traditional Scouting activities such as camping, hiking and outdoor skills, our young people have the opportunity to learn sailing, kayaking, canoeing, rowing, paddleboarding and powerboating right here in Torbay. For many of our members, these experiences create lifelong memories and develop confidence, teamwork and resilience that stay with them for years.

To continue offering these opportunities safely, we urgently need to purchase an additional second-hand rigid inflatable boat (RIB) to provide safety cover on the water. Safety boats are an essential part of all our water-based activities, allowing our trained volunteers to supervise, support and, when necessary, rescue young people taking part in sailing, paddlesports and other aquatic activities.

Our existing resources are no longer enough to support the number of young people taking part in our programme. An additional safety boat will help ensure that our Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers can continue to enjoy adventurous activities on the water safely and confidently for many years to come.

Every donation, no matter the size, will bring us one step closer to securing a second-hand RIB and protecting the future of water activities at 6th Torbay Britannia Sea Scouts.
