Story
Sainsbury’s and Comic Relief started working together in 1999 and in the 26 years since, our business, colleagues and customers have raised over £183 million for the charity. In 2022, we evolved our partnership to launch Nourish the Nation – a food focused programme created in response to the pressing issue of food poverty in the UK and drive forward our purpose to make good food joyful, accessible and affordable for everyone, every day.
Sainsbury’s works with Comic Relief to help fund charities working tirelessly to tackle food poverty. And we rally our customers, colleagues and suppliers to join the fight against hunger through fundraising campaigns and product donations that make a real difference.
What impact are we making?
Since we launched Nourish the Nation with Comic Relief in 2022, we have:
• Donated over 59 million meals through over £24m of donations raised through corporate donations, customer fundraising and supplier donations and events.
• Provided over 150,000 holiday club places so that children can access free food and activities in the school holidays.
• Provided food to over 2.4 million people.
• Supported over 590 food clubs across the UK, with 71% of users say they are skipping meals less often.
• Saved 16,000 tonnes of food from going to waste.
Your donations will help us fund more incredible projects across the UK, fighting to end food poverty. Brilliant organisations such as FareShare, Feeding Britian and the Bread and Butter Thing. You can read more about our work together on Sainsbury’s corporate website.
