The Salcombe RNLI Resolution Run, a 7km scenic trail run looping around the beautiful Snape’s Point and back. Held on New Year’s Eve, this community-spirited event is the perfect way to end the year on a high, with stunning views, fresh coastal air, and a great cause at its heart. The event is being organised by Lets Go Velo in partnership with the Salcombe RNLI.
It is hoped that entrants will help raise sponsorship to support the lifesaving work of the volunteer lifeboat crew of Salcombe's All Weather and Inshore Lifeboats.
Each year the volunteer lifeboat crew of the Salcombe Lifeboats are called out on average 60 times to assist people in difficulties. In addition, the volunteers give hours of their own time to carryout training to ensure they are ready to handle any situation that they may be asked to respond to. None of this would be possible without the shore-based volunteers and supporters who raise the money that ensures the charity can maintain this service 24/7.
We hope that entrants in this event will raise money for the Salcombe RNLI through donations from their families and friends. It costs £336 to provide a lifejacket to keep a volunteer safe when they are at sea and an average of £1,400 to provide the training for a new crew volunteer so that they can help save the lives of others. Every penny donated will go to support the work of the RNLI Salcombe Lifeboat Crew who for over 150 years have protected the lives of the people either work on or enjoy the waters and coastline in and around Salcombe.
