Story
The children at Saltwood Play and Learning Centre are fundraising for Wildwood and their work with hazel dormice!
Wildwood is a leading UK conservation organisation working with hazel dormice, helping to protect them and return them safely to suitable woodland areas.
Featured in a recent BBC News article, this year marks an incredible milestone for Wildwood's hazel dormouse conservation programme. Over the past 25 years, Wildwood has helped rewild more than 1,000 hazel dormice across nine counties, from Cumbria to Bedfordshire, helping to restore populations of this much-loved native species in areas where numbers had previously disappeared.
"[I]n 50 years' time dormice will be extinct in the UK if we don't do more to help them". - Hazel Ryan, senior conservation officer at the Wildwood Trust
As part of this project, the children will learn about these tiny woodland animals and why they are important to our woodlands, alongside taking part in fundraising activities.
Every donation will support Wildwood’s work to care for and protect native wildlife, and help give hazel dormice a better future in Britain’s woodlands.
Thank you for your support!
