St Andrews Men’s Shed is looking to obtain funding to help us to move to a new site at Craigtoun Country Park, and to erect a new building which has many advantages over our current location. We have been given a redundant farm building by a local housing developer – Scott Wallace of Wallace Homes.

This building is much larger than our current one and will allow us to develop a large workshop, coffee bar, computer room, kitchen, and disabled toilet. We need funds to erect the building; it will require professional contractors to do this work. Although our members have a wide range of skills, the job will require the services of a professional contractor with the right experience and equipment. We will also need to connect to mains services, water, electricity, and sewage. Interior fit-out will be carried out by Shed members.

Our ambition is to raise money to erect the new building and to connect to mains services, and your support in helping us reach this goal will be hugely appreciated.

We are hopeful that our grant applications will be successful, however your contributions will help to demonstrate just how important the Shed is to the local community.

About the Charity

St Andrews Men's Shed is one of over two hundred sheds open in Scotland. The focus of a Shed is to benefit the health and wellbeing of men in Scotland and gives opportunity for inspiration, help or just a chat. As men, we know we’re not always very good at talking to others when we’re facing difficult times, or perhaps adjusting to a significant change in our situation, (such as retirement for example). We’ve created the St Andrews Men’s Shed to help men of all ages in St Andrews and surrounding areas to connect, converse and create. With activities like those of garden sheds, wood working, metal working, gardening – the group is here to reduce loneliness and isolation, but most importantly, have fun.
