Story

Swindon Advocacy Movement have a big mountain to climb!

On 1st August 2026 members of the SAM staff and volunteers, led by Boost manager Caroline, will be hiking up the Pyg track of Snowdon to raise money for the Boost project.

Some of us have let our fitness fall by the wayside (the person writing this especially) so a lot of training is going to happen over the next few months! But we are all determined, and raising money for our Boost members means more to us than aching knees and blisters!

You can follow our journey on our social media pages, we are on Facebook and Instagram and will keep you up to date.

Swindon Advocacy Movement began the Boost project in 2019 to provide an enablement and mental wellbeing service for people with learning disabilities.

When a person is referred to our service we meet with them to talk about their goals and classes they would like to join in with.

Our weekly sessions include accessible seated exercise, creative writing, maths, money management, shopping, cooking, travel training and computer skills. Outside these we will also help people with other goals they may have such as looking for volunteer roles or employment.

All our sessions are person-centred which means we think of the person themselves and their needs when we start working with them.

Now over to you! Our Boost service needs funds to provide more equipment and activities for the people we support. We would love to be able to help even more people reach their aims and your donations could help us achieve this. Everyone deserves a chance at having a good life, and independence means a lot to our Boost members.

Thank you for reading, please share this to as many people as possible!

For an easy-read version of this please ask Caroline, Abby or Anj when you are next in SAM house.
