The campaign has now expired but it's not too late to support this charity.
We support thousands of people living with terminal illnesses & their families, in our three hospices, via our patient & family support services, and in the community through Myton at Home. We need to raise £12.7 million this year to provide our services free of charge – we can’t do it without you!
Story
Help us raise £38,000 at this years Santa Dash so we can continue providing our services to people with terminal illnesses, and their families, over the festive period.
Hundreds of festive fundraisers will descend upon Victoria Park dressed as Santa and his elves on Sunday 8th December to take on a 5km run, jog or walk to raise money for The Myton Hospices!
This year we have to raise £9.2 million of the £12 million we need to continue providing our services free of charge, we cant do it without support from people like you.
The money you raise means more people can benefit from Mytons support after a loved one dies, like Erin Wilson did.
Christmas can be a difficult time to celebrate if there is someone special missing.
And for 10 year-old Erin, the death of her Grandad, John, was especially difficult. From enjoying board games together, playing at the park on sunny days and watching movies together, the pair had a special bond.
But thanks to the Rainbow Ripples bereavement service for children at The Myton Hospices, Erin was able to remember the happy memories they made together, while also talking about her emotions surrounding his death.
She shared her memories of John, and the difference Rainbow Ripples made to her at a very special Light up a Life remembrance event for children whose loved ones have been cared for by Myton.
She said:
Grandad was 80 when he died; His birthday is Valentines Day and I still buy him a balloon every birthday and let it float into the sky so he can catch it! I was really upset when my Dad told me Grandad died. Now Im happier though because hes in a happier place now. Its been a very hard experience with my Grandad not being here.
I came to Myton for counselling and Ive got lots of things which I made like a memory box, salt jar, hedgehog and a canvas to remember him. Ive told my friends all about coming to Rainbow Ripples and all the stuff Ive made. I felt much better after having counselling all of my sadness has gone and all of the happiness about my Grandad has come back. Me and Nan still share memories about Grandad.
With your support we can help more children like Erin to work through their grief after losing a loved one.
