Every year members of the Rotary Club of Mersea Island tour the Island with Santa's Sleigh, bringing Christmas cheer to all, while raising money for lots of good causes with our collection. This year Santa will be hitting the streets again. Unfortunately, during the current circumstances we cannot take donations at the door or on the Sleigh. This has not stopped Santa, and we are asking for your generosity to donate online today and to share this page with your friends. This year Santa and the Rotary Club of Mersea Island will be dividing the Sleigh campaign funds among the following registered charities:
- The Mersea Island Community Association - the MICA Centre is at the heart of our local community, providing a home for a number of Mersea Island social, sport and arts activities on the Island since 1981. The Mersea Island Community Association and its "HALL FOR ALL" is a very important part of our community and this year we would like to give back to the Association that has given so much to so many on the Island over its near 40 year history. Find out more at https://merseacentre.org/
- The NSPCC - the NSPCC is of course known to all and has contributed a huge amount in protecting Children locally and nationally. The NSPCC normally run a Saturday Market at Mersea Island School during November which is an event that is very well attended. Unfortunately, this year that event has not been able to take place, and therefore the Rotary Club of Mersea Island are pleased to announce the NSPCC as a recipient of our Sleigh collection this year. Find out more about the NSPCC at https://www.nspcc.org.uk/
- The Catherine Bullen Foundation - the Catherine Bullen Foundation will be known to many as a charity local to Mersea that are making a real difference in rural Namibia. The funds received by the Catherine Bullen Foundation from this will go towards the provision of an ambulance in rural Namibia.
