SARAC ( sexual abuse rape advice centre) is a well established, specialist charity based in Burton on Trent dedicated to providing support, information and education to anyone affected by Sexual Violence, Abuse and Rape. SARAC was formed in 1994 by a group of local women who were appalled at the lack of support for people dealing with the aftermath of childhood/adulthood sexual abuse and/or rape. It is a developing charity, although its aims remain the same – offering bespoke services for everyone over the age of 11, leading to a reduction in the suffering caused by the effects of sexual abuse and/or rape, and thereby leading to the prevention of secondary victimisation. SARAC’s objectives include the delivery of specialist, face-to-face emotional support,ensuring all supporters are trained to a high standard, and are managed and supported to a high standard. We also provide education and awareness sessions, training and consultancy.

Story

SARAC is a nonprofit organisation dedicated to supporting individuals aged 11 and above who have experienced or are at risk of sexual abuse and rape. Based in East Staffordshire and South Derbyshire, SARAC provides specialist support, counselling, and advocacy services to survivors, aiming to facilitate healing, promote empowerment, and raise awareness about sexual violence.
