Story
Sarcomas are cancers that occur in the connective tissues of the body, like bones, muscle and cartilage. In children, teenagers and young adults the most common types of sarcoma are bone tumours (osteosarcoma and Ewing sarcoma) and soft tissue sarcomas including rhabdomyosarcoma.
Overall sarcomas account for around 10% of cancers in children and young people.
Survival for sarcomas is lower than for some other types of cancer in this age group, further research is therefore urgently needed to improve outcomes for all children and young people diagnosed with a sarcoma.
Our Research Funds are part of our exciting plans to fund and support pioneering research into cancers affecting children, teenagers and young adults. You can find out more about the research we fund on our website.
