We need your help to raise £500,000 to buy the building that houses Edinburgh Furniture Initiative (EFI) on Gorgie Road, Edinburgh—so we can continue supporting people, protecting the planet, and powering positive change in our community.
Why This Matters
Edinburgh Furniture Initiative is not just a second-hand furniture store. We are a social enterprise run by the homelessness charity, Four Square, and every day we sell affordable, quality second-hand furniture, to raise money to support people affected by homelessness.
The Urgent Challenge
The building we’ve called home for four years on Gorgie Road is being put up for sale. If we don’t raise the funds to buy it, we risk losing our social enterprise and half a million pounds of funding every year.
Our Goal: £500,000
We need to raise half a million pounds to buy the building and secure EFI’s future. If we are unsuccessful in buying the building, we will use it to secure another store in the city.
Every donation you make will help us:
- Purchase the building, creating a permanent, secure home for EFI
- Protect our employment and training programmes for people affected by homelessness
- Continue our environmental mission by saving usable furniture from landfill
- Grow our social impact, reaching more people and offering more support
- And provide beautiful homes for people who need them.
How You Can Help
- Donate what you can—even a small gift makes a big difference
- Share this page with your friends, family, and networks
- Fundraise for us—organise an event, take on a challenge, or get creative!
We know times are tough. But we also know that community spirit is powerful. With your support, we can secure a permanent home for EFI and continue transforming lives in Edinburgh for years to come.
Please give what you can today—and help us turn this challenge into a new chapter of growth, hope, and lasting impact.
Thank you.
