Story
Story:
This is Pombear, our sweet 3-year-old Pomeranian. She is full of love, cheeky energy and the brightest personality, but right now she is fighting for her life.
Pombear has been diagnosed with Pyometra, a severe and life-threatening infection of the uterus that affects unneutered female dogs. Without urgent surgery, the infection will spread, leading to sepsis and death. She is scheduled for emergency surgery imminently, which is her only chance of survival.
The vet bill is over £1500, which is an enormous and unexpected cost. We are reaching out for help. No matter how small the donation, your money will make a difference and give Pombear the future she deserves.
What is Pyometra?
Pyometra is a dangerous infection of the womb that affects unspayed female dogs, usually after a heat cycle.
It causes the uterus to fill with pus, which can lead to blood poisoning and organ failure if untreated.
Symptoms can be subtle at first (lethargy, loss of appetite, drinking more water), but once it develops, it becomes a medical emergency.
Why Neutering is Important
Sadly, pyometra is common in unspayed dogs, but it is 100% preventable through neutering. Spaying not only prevents unwanted litters, it also dramatically reduces the risk of infections like this, as well as mammary cancer. We want to share Pombear’s story not only to save her life, but to raise awareness of how important neutering is for our pets.
