Story

Linda's Story

At TomatoFest 2023 Linda (pictured) won a raffle ticket to have a free haircut as donated by the Heavenly Hair people in Saxmundham. Linda and Janeece have got together and decided to make this a fundraising event for the SAX Community Barn and the Little Princess Trust - the haircut is taking place between 5pm and 7pm on the 1st December at Heavenly Hair in Saxmundham. The SAX Community Barn

In February 2023 the SAX Community Fridge started the SAX Community Allotment in order to ensure a regular supply of fresh vegetables for the fridge and to start a community around the allotment. This has been a great success and has led to the idea of the SAX Community Barn.

Currently, next to the allotment is a barn which is in need of repair. The renovated barn would provide a dry, covered area for use by the volunteers at the allotment in inclement weather. It would also be used to hold a variety of educational events such as growing workshops, cookery demonstrations for both adults and school children, outdoor nature events, community events and facilitate links with forestry schools.

The presence of rewilded land on the farm and the recent appearance of an abundance of wild orchids together with the location of the farm next to woodland areas means that local flora groups might also be attracted to use the barn as a base for associated activities.

The Little Princess Trust

The Little Princess Trust provides real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or to other conditions such as Alopecia.

The charity is also one of the largest funders of childhood cancer research in the UK.

The Little Princess Trust relies solely on the generosity of its wonderful supporters who help the charity give Hair and Hope to so many children and young people with cancer each year.
