Shepherds Bush Families Project

SBFP was set up in February 1988 in response to an identified need in the borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. SBFP&CC works with families who are homeless, those living in temporary accommodation and families who are occupying unsuitable housing.

Helping families who have unmet housing needs and suffer social & economic hardship. Promoting the emotional, physical, social growth of C&YP through provision of high quality, educational & recreational activities which will enable them to flourish and develop both at home & school or college.

Story

We urgently need your support! Shepherds Bush Families Project was set up 36 years ago to support and assist families living under housing stress. During this time, our services have grown in line with increased need for families. Unfortunately, since our inception the housing crisis has only got worse so our services are needed now more than ever. Each year we work with a community of over 90 families on a regular basis and additional families ad-hoc, stepping in for emergencies and ongoing cases alike.

Our services endeavour to create a safe support system for our families that allows them and their children space and respite from their often insecure, overcrowded and temporary housing. Our services range from children’s sessions to much needed therapy and advice, as well as supporting families with urgent donations to ease the conditions that poverty presents, including food, clothing, baby items and school/educational materials. We offer parent and child sessions, after school and holiday provision as well as advice and advocacy services. The sense of community is furthered through our coffee mornings and English conversation classes, sessions run by volunteers that allow families to socialise and celebrate the wide cultures that our community comprises.

We are one of the few organisations left that support families within Hammersmith and Fulham and the surrounding boroughs, entirely for free, families who would otherwise have nowhere to turn. Having run successfully for 36 years, we now find ourselves in a position where we urgently need to raise some of the funds we need to keep the services going. We are asking for donations small and large to support the survival of Shepherds Bush Families Project.
